How is Resiliency Coaching Different Than Therapy?
In a Resiliency Coaching Session, you will have the opportunity to explore your strengths and areas for growth as you navigate the complexities of polycrisis. I will offer experiential NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) techniques, such as visualizations, reframing, and meta programs, to help you build your personal toolkit for nervous system regulation, emotional resilience, and overall well-being.
Polycrisis: Polycrisis refers to the interconnected and overlapping crises—environmental, social, political, and economic—that are happening simultaneously, amplifying one another and creating a sense of overwhelm. These compounded challenges often feel difficult to manage, but by cultivating resilience, you can stay grounded and find ways to adapt and thrive despite the unpredictability. Resiliency coaching is designed to help you harness the inner resources needed to navigate these difficult times with a sense of clarity, calm, and hope.
Therapy: Therapy typically focuses on healing from the past and is often centered around mental health challenges like anxiety, depression, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It may involve diagnosis, medication, mental health education, and the development of coping skills. Therapists are licensed professionals, governed by a code of ethics, and subject to various regulations regarding their practice.
Coaching: Coaching is focused on the present and future, empowering you to work through challenges and achieve your personal goals. Through coaching, you can learn to leverage your past experiences in ways that create momentum toward your future. Coaching can involve skill-building, mental health education, and goal-setting. While coaching is not regulated by licensing boards, many coaches adopt similar ethical guidelines as therapists. It provides a supportive and dynamic environment to work toward creating meaningful change in your life.
Resiliency Coaching Sessions are designed to help you develop the emotional resilience, clarity, and strength you need to navigate the complexities of your life. Drawing on my training in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), I will guide you through processes that transform the way you think, feel, and act in response to life’s challenges. We will work together to reframe your experiences, clarify your values, and develop specific strategies for moving forward.
Our sessions will focus on helping you build the inner resources you need to remain adaptable, grounded, and proactive in times of uncertainty. In each session, you will be invited to reflect on your strengths and growth areas, explore new skills, and practice techniques that support emotional regulation and resilience.The first half of our session will focus on identifying and discussing your strengths and the areas of your life where you are seeking support or growth. In the second half, we will dive into practicing a specific technique or strategy, allowing you to experience the shift firsthand.
I haven’t played by the rules in a long time.
Years ago, when my children’s father passed away suddenly, I found myself alone in the woods with 3 small kids, no college degree and no tangible family support. I quickly realized the precarious, societal boxes this placed me in… ones that are extremely challenging to overcome:
Poor. Female. Uneducated. Single mom.
I couldn’t imagine living my life or raising my children from these labels. I had to reach within and find self-determination. I started by asking myself: If I’m not these things or only these things, who am I and what do I want for myself & my family?
